07 April 2020, “See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labour or spin.” (Matt 6:28)
It has been heart-warming to see how you have actively participated in all the Lenten and Passion Week Masses and Liturgies from home. Our hearts were full of joy as we received over one thousand of your family photos to place on the pews as a sign of your on-going presence in the Church although you are not physically able to be here.
As I said in my homily on Sunday, this truly broke the silence in the Cathedral. We understand how upset you are for not being able to take part in this week’s liturgies, especially the Great Friday Adoration of the Cross. For many of you, this will be the first time that you are not present in the Church on Great Friday.
We feel your pain and the pain of not being able to bring your beautiful flowers to place in the shroud that will be buried with Jesus in the tomb. For this reason, we would like to ask you, in place of these flowers to send us your intentions or the names of your family members and we will offer them a beautiful bouquet in place of the flowers that you would normally bring.
You have placed a big responsibility on our shoulders so that we can bring all your petitions to the foot of the cross on your behalf and we promise you that we will not disappoint you. So please send them to
