Dear Parents The sacraments of baptism have been instituted by our Lord Jesus Christ himself and through them God enters into the life of the child and works in them. The sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation are the two sacraments of initiation that a child receives as an infant. The other sacraments are Holy Communion, Reconciliation, Marriage, Holy Orders and the Anointing of the Sick. The Catechism of the Catholic Church notes that Christ Himself affirmed that baptism is necessary for salvation. Through Baptism the child becomes a member of the Church and becomes the adopted son/daughter of God the Father, the brother/sister of God the Son and the temple of God the Holy Spirit. Understanding the mystery of the sacraments is very important because this gives us a deeper insight into our faith. When we know and understand our faith, then we are able to live it and bring our children up in the knowledge and love of it also. For this reason, preparation for the sacraments is essential. As such, parents and Godparents of all children receiving the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation will be required to attend a compulsory One-hour session to prepare them for this important spiritual milestone in the life of their child. Please refer to the dates below at the bottom of the booking form to pick a date that is suitable for you and the Godparents and then go to the following link to book your session.
